Dining with your Dog, 5 Restaurants with a pet-friendly menu
Are you tired of leaving your furry friend at home every time you go out to eat? Well, we’ve got some great news – there are plenty of restaurants that welcome dogs with open paws and even have a special menu just for them.
So why not treat yourself and your pooch to a delicious meal together? We can’t wait to share our favorite pet-friendly restaurants that will make dining with your dog an unforgettable experience. Get ready to drool over the mouth-watering options on the menus – both for humans and canines alike!
Damhuis Restaurant, Melkbosstrand
Normally we would be tempting you with descriptions of delicious seafood and traditional cuisine served in one of the oldest buildings in the Western Cape but this time, it’s not just about you. Your secretly-favorite family member can grab a starter of mini doggy meatballs followed by a succulent sirloin and what’s a dinner without dessert? Biltong-flavoured ice cream is the perfect end to a great meal. A pet-friendly menu for sure!
Voodoo Lily Cafe, Birdhaven
This is the perfect place to pop in after a walk with your furry friend. It is simply pawsome! And did we mention the food and coffee are great as well? But this is all about the dog, and here they can enjoy healthy options like organic chicken breasts, chicken livers, and doggy biscuits! You, on the other hand, can peruse the menu and order something scrumptious!
The Twelve Apostles Hotel
Let’s be honest, we all need a bit of 5-star tender loving care, and we can’t think of a better place than The Twelve Apostles. Book a table for you and your dog or cat at The Leopard Bar and sit back and relax. It is the perfect spot for those all-important sundowners.
While you take in the breathtaking views over that ice-cold glass of wine, your dog can order the fillet steak or lamb burger from the Bark-A-Licious menu, or your feline can peruse The Purrfect Choice and order a plate of salmon trout or poached chicken breast. Simply heaven! A 5-star pet-friendly menu that will have your pet whining for more!
Ground Café, Muldersdrift
We love the Ground Cafe, it’s a foodie heaven and renowned for its gourmet food and sweet deli treats. And while you soak in the scenery, indulge in beautiful food, you may as well order a pup-a-cino for your furry family member – it comes with biltong sprinkles making it every dog’s dream.
Massimo’s, Hout Bay
Massimo’s is definitely one of our favorites; maybe it’s the pizza or the fact that they love dogs as much as we do! Their dog menu is simply delightful, and your dog will love everything from Joe’s Crunchy Balls, made with oats and peanut butter, to the Orange Donald’s bakes which have been stuffed with boerewors and pumpkin. But if your dog is like ours, the bone-shaped mini pizza goes down like a treat. Massimo’s also donates a portion of every doggy meal they sell to the Underdog Project!
Conclusion
After all of that, our dogs are feeling rather peckish, so we are off to have pizza and a lovely glass of wine, and a bowl of water! Our dogs are just like our children, perhaps slightly better behaved, and we are thrilled to, at last, be able to enjoy a meal out and about with them at restaurants that offer just that little bit more!
