Chalets at Traveling Tortoise

The chalets comprise three different options. The Hatchling Home is suitable for couples or larger families. With two bedrooms, a sleeper couch in the lounge, and a well-equipped kitchen. Not to mention a private wood-fired hot tub and a heated pool nearby. The Angulate has two bedrooms, an extra bathroom with a shower, a family-sized lounge, and a sleeper couch. As well as a well-equipped kitchen, a large deck with braai, and a private wood-fired hot tub. The Hinge-Back offers three bedrooms (two downstairs double beds, one upstairs with two single beds), a spacious lounge with a double sleeper couch, a well-equipped kitchen, a deck with braai, and a private wood-fired hot tub.

Pet-Friendly Hobbit Homes

The Hobbit Homes are also a popular option for guests looking for a unique experience. The Hare’s Lair is a Hobbit-style earth-sheltered burrow that is fully self-catering. With a double bed and sleeper couch, cast-iron fire for winter warmth, and a braai on a sheltered stoep with a view. The Padloper is an intimate getaway with a retro cabin feel, newly refurbished with modern amenities and a spectacular Klein Karoo vista, sleeping two. The Jackal’s Den is nestled on the hill overlooking the valley, featuring a Hobbit-style home with wooden floors and a curved reed ceiling, a well-equipped kitchen, and a spacious bathroom with a shower.

Camping at The Traveling Tortoise

For those who prefer camping, the resort offers a level-ground bush campsite with grassy pitches, featuring a first-rate ablution block, and shaded braai areas overlooking pools and valleys. Additionally, there is a unique camping experience in a giant tortoise called The Torthouse, which is minimalistic with a double bed, small kitchen, and outside braai area.
