Lythwood Lodge in Lidgetton

Category:

Breed Description

Originally spelled as Lithwood, the name Lythwood has its origins in the Greek word “Lith,” meaning stone, referencing a former quarry on the estate. The land on which Lythwood stands was once part of the Blesberg farm, and the Afrikaans name, meaning bald mountain, comes from the Voortrekkers who owned farms in the Lidgetton area. The first owners of the farm were the Henwoods, and later it was acquired by Arthur Coy, with Billy Caldo as the dedicated estate manager and gardener.
