Welcome to Morningside K9 Academy – Durban Dog Training

The relationship between an animal and its owner is a unique connection. At Morningside K9 Academy, we specialize in nurturing this bond through expert dog training. With many years of experience working with dogs and puppies, we are passionate about helping dogs and their owners by teaching the benefits and power of positive training methods.

Our mission is to witness the joy in puppy parents as they watch their precious ones learn their first trick or succeed in changing unwanted behaviour. It is heartwarming to see puppies grow and develop class by class.

Our Approach

I was taught the HUGE benefits of FEAR-FREE TRAINING by my own rescue dog, Matt, who arrived untrained, highly excited, and both dog and people aggressive. Through positive training techniques, Matt has responded amazingly well and is now our Puppy School Mascot. My passion for Belgian Shepherds has made me the proud owner of three varieties of this wonderful breed. Keeping me on my toes as a trainer.

I am very proud of what I have achieved. And the lives changed for the better (both dogs and humans) through Morningside K9 Academy. Our reviews on the internet vouch for our passion for sharing information. By helping puppies and dogs become well-behaved family pets, we aim to prevent uncontrollable dogs from being given away.

Rescue Puppy Support

We are also passionate about helping parents of rescue puppies and dogs settle in and be accepting of their new situations. By avoiding bad behaviour and negative experiences for them and their new family, we can achieve harmony. We hope that through training, we can reduce the number of dogs returned to the shelter system.

Our Programs

Puppy Training
(8 Weeks to 6 Months)

Are you aware that the first three months of your puppy’s stay with you are the most vital months in their lives? Therefore, we want to help you lay the correct foundation for their adult behavior. Once your puppy has had the second immune-boosting vaccination, they can be enrolled in Puppy School. Indeed, early learning is crucial in your puppy’s life, and this is the best stage to start laying a solid foundation in their education. Since puppies learn lessons from positive or negative experiences, it’s up to you to make those lessons as positive as possible. Additionally, we are here to teach you how. Puppy class offers a safe environment where they get to make new friends and learn to greet, play, and get along with other dogs.

Basic Training
(6 Months to 1 Year)

If you have missed puppy classes, we teach you how to use positive training methods to start your dog on a new path of learning to offer good behaviors. The best way to remove bad behavior from your dog’s repertoire is to teach them that offering good behavior is very rewarding.

Hoopers Fun Agility

Hoopers is a new dog sport taking the dog world by storm. It is a low-impact style of agility. Making this fun sport available to all dogs of any breed and any age. The objective is to direct your dog through the obstacles while building a strong relationship and understanding with your dog.
